Public

Go on a social dining journey through the Italian regions.

At Public, dining is a social experience. That is why the menu does not come with the classic lists of primi, secondi and dolce. Instead, the restaurant serves a seven-course menu for DKK 350, where every dish is meant for sharing.

The dishes at Public takes you on a journey through the Italian regions – each with its own traditions and flavors. The wine menu at Public similarly spans some of Italy’s best wine regions, and prosecco is a true favourite of the house. Public imports several of the wines themselves – the same goes for the hams, sausages and cheeses.

The founders of the restaurant, Italian Cindy and Danish Johan, started out making porchetta sandwiches in a food truck at the street food market Papirøen. When the market closed in 2017, they decided to open Public in the buzzing neighbourhood by Halmtorvet.
